POSTWAR LIONEL 3494-275 BANGOR & AROOSTOOK STATE OF MAINE OPERATING BOX CAR - OB

Description

This is a Lionel 1950's 3494 Bangor & Aroostook - State of Maine - Operating Box Car.  It is used, but in great shape.  Couplers are good. It comes with its original box.
The Box

The box does show some signs of wear.  It has writing on it (someone wrote State of Maine in pencil), old price stickers, and the remains of old original tape on both ends, but does have all its inner and outer flaps, as well as the inner foldable coupler protectors.  On one end, the small part of the large outer flaps is ripped, but not all the way through, and its still good enough to close, etc. (see last picture).  On the other end, the top layer of print from the box has been ripped away in one spot.  (See pictures for details of box)

This was part of my father's vast and cherished railroad collection.  They have been stored in a well ventilated, moisture controlled, smoke-free environment for many years. Since a lot of them may not have been run for many years, I would recommend proper lubrication followed by a break-in period for optimum performance. You may notice some dust and dirt, I will leave the cleaning of these items up to the discretion of the new owner.
